Sorry I missed you at PCMC, but I'm glad to finally be out of there, 143 days was about 142 days too many! :)
Elaina has obstructed sleep apnia too, and that is why she's on the c-pap at night. She is on a peep of 8 with about 5 liters of oxygen to keep her sats up. As you can probably imagine, she doesn't like the mask at all. She fusses and fights it when it's first put on. We give her a low dose of ativan and then she usually settles into a pretty good sleep. We were giving her melatonin too, and it worked great, but it doesn't dissolve very well and it kept clogging up her NJ tube. She was on 1 mg of melatonin and you can just buy that at a health food store or with the vitamins and supplements in most pharmacies. The biggest problem I've noticed with the c-pap is that the mask can slip if she wiggles and it causes the machine to alarm. She doesn't really need the no-no's for the c-pap though, she has to wear those so that she doesn't pull her NJ tube out! She's pretty tricky! Good luck, I'll keep checking to see how it goes!
Hugs,
HollieHolliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06757474016556454100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8591964267414442874.post-84686930754288719162008-10-09T13:07:00.000-07:002008-10-09T13:07:00.000-07:00Congratulations!
