He is such a brave little guy! I could tell he was feeling a little better when he started wanting to suck on his thumb again. He was only awake for about a total of 20 minutes today. I can't blame him; if I'd have had open heart surgery the day before I would have wanted to be asleep all day too!

He looks so good for having open heart surgery. I kept thinking that he would be much like he was after he was born. But look at those big blue eyes looking up so knowingly. The thought came to me when you mentioned that he was in a good mood before the surgery that perhaps in his own little way he knew that this experience would get him closer to being a healthy little guy. The other thought that I had was that he has now experienced the tremendous love of a family that adores and loves him deeply. He has had the hugs, kisses, caresses, etc. so that he knows he is loved, which gives him the strength to keep fighting to get better. Anyway, he is so precious, even in his suffering.
It is so wonderful to see pictures of baby Nathan awake and sucking his thumb. What a sweet little guy! It is amazing what a strong little guy he is. We pray that he will continue to do well and heal quickly.
