Nathan's First Solid Foods

I actually took these pictures a couple of weeks ago. I was having such a hard time with getting Nathan to eat from a bottle that Mary and I decided he might like some bananas. I was supposed to thicken the formula with bananas... that didn't work so well going through the nipple. Since I already had the bananas I decided to see if Nathan would just eat them plain. As you can tell, he wasn't too keen on the idea of food. I can see we'll have a long ways to go before the button is removed! These pictures were taken on May 25, 2008.

Obviously at this point he had no idea what was coming.

As you can tell, he doesn't really like solid foods. The only thing he enjoys in his mouth is his or mom's fingers!

The positive thing about this experience was that although he made yucky faces, he didn't throw up food through his nose (because of his cleft palates) AND more importantly he didn't really cry. I'm hoping that someday he will become a TRUE Ellinger and have a hard time keeping food out of his mouth. I only say that because it is true that Ellinger men have quite the talent for cooking yummy food!
